How to Volunteer
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for Special Olympics. There are many different events and competitions that occur throughout the year. For more information, and to receive a volunteer packet, please click here to complete the on-line request form. You will be receiving more detailed information in the mail.

Ways That You Can Volunteer
The list is endless, but here are a few ways that you help Special Olympics with your volunteering skills:

Coach a sport We offer sporting opportunities in 17 sports, and are always looking to add more sports. Coaches must be at least 18 years of age, or accompanied by an adult.

Escort Volunteers are assigned an athlete(s) for a competition. Your duties include getting the athlete to events on time, making sure they have a lunch, and that they get to participate in other activities when not competing.

Area Committee We meet monthly to plan and organize programs for our athletes.

Competition Committee Organize the area competitions for local athletes.

Fund Raising Committee Plan and administer fund raising programs to help keep Special Olympics free of charge to our athletes.

Special Events Committee Assist in the creation of fun, games, and special programs to keep athletes entertained at local tournaments when not competing.


Food Committee Used mainly for our Spring Games. Recruits volunteer to prepare lunches for our athletes and volunteers. Also, prepare menu and seek donations for lunches.

Become a Unified SportsŪ Partner Partners train and compete on a team with athletes with mental retardation. Athletes and partners are paired up according to similar ability levels, age, and gender. Sports that we currently offer Unified opportunities are: basketball, soccer, volleyball, athletics, bowling, and golf.
